Is exercise the first thing to go when things get busy?

I get it - you’ve so much on.

My goodness we all have.

Nativity, Christmas shopping, ordering the turkey, booking train tickets, making sure your mum is ok, sorting the secret Santa, the running club social, doing the presents for your family as well as his, being at the Christmas show, getting Christmas jumpers, donations for the raffle & the food bank, finishing off work projects, rugby practice, going to the Christmas fair, booking time off work, organising plans for NYE, thinking about the Jacobs join, working out when to get the tree up, checking you’ve got some crackers…

And that’s ON TOP OF all the other 500 million things that it takes to run a home, have a family, maintain a relationship, have friendships, some kind of a social life. and succeed at work.

SO WHY DO YOU STOP DOING THE THINGS THAT WOULD HELP YOU COPE?

We all know that regular exercise makes us show up better.

Same goes with drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, getting out for little walks here and there, reducing alcohol and eating healthy choices.

We know these things make us calmer, more resilient, happier, more confident and feel more able to cope with whatever gets thrown at us.

So why is it that you keep binning these things off at THE EXACT TIME YOU NEED THEM MOST?

You think you’ll save some time (forgetting exercise makes you more productive)

You think you can’t eat healthily come December (no-one is controlling what you put in your actual mouth)

You think it’s pointless to get out for your mental health walks every day, because your’e super stressed anyway so how is a stupid walk going to help? (maybe you’re actually stressed because you’ve stopped walking daily?!).

You think there’s no point keeping up with your healthy lifestyle habits as December is a write off anyway and everyone goes off the rails at Christmas and gains a stone (I can assure you that they don’t!).

You think there’s no point is exercising as you can only many 2 sessions a week at the moment as opposed to your normal 3 (have you never seen my points on perfectionism? It’s holding you back my friend!)

You think there’s no point having a healthy breakfast and lunch as you’re going out with the girls for cocktails later (you can do both, you know)

You can’t be bothered to work on your boundaries now as your husbands brother and his family ALWAYS come and stay for a week and what’s the point in trying to change things now (you are not their servant and the sooner you stop behaving like one, the sooner you’ll stop being treated like one)

So- you end up feeling stressed, fed up, resentful, uncomfortable in your body and thoroughly overwhelmed.

Maybe this year you could try other ways at dealing with overwhelm with your health and fitness at Christmas time? Instead of sticking your head in the sand and hoping for the best of January 2nd when you step on the scales?

Imagine there was a medicine or something that would help you feel calmer, more in control, less panicked and generally in a better mood at this, the busiest time of the year,.

It’s called Regular Exercise and working with a coach like me can help you introduce more movement into your schedule- whatever it looks like.

Fancy a chat about 1-1 Coaching to get you moving consistently in a way that supports your flourishing, wholesome health with accountability and support?

I have one space left to start before Christmas.
