Claire’s story
When Claire approached me about coaching, she was feeling lost with exercise and completely unfocused after having two children.
Claire wanted efficiency & focus - “I wanted to spend my exercise time exercising, rather than devising a programme… I wanted a coach to tell me what to do so I could open the programme and start without any thought” Claire recognised she was time-poor and wanted support with her strength training (which she knew less about) to reduce the risk of injury.
Previously a dedicated club runner at a high level who spent a lot of time training and racing- she knew she didn’t want to go back to that but wanted to get back to being fit, active and ready for absolutely anything.
“I had followed Beth online for a while and really liked Beth’s approach – realistic, consistent and not-perfect (I mean that in the most positive way, Beth did not present an Insta-perfect life that made you feel bad about not being able to emulate).
I also wanted someone who had a family so could truly understand the love that brings, conflicts on time, and who had gone through similar life stages recently”
Claire was excited to have some direction in her exercise when we got started but also nervous. “I’m a bit (ok, a huge) control freak so trusting someone else to lead the way was hard. I put my trust in Beth and fully embrace the process”, she said.
Claire’s first impression of me was that I was “Straight talking, knowledgeable, protein-obsessed” which I think is THE best way I’ve ever been described!
5 months into coaching & the biggest change for Claire has been that she has become more relaxed and flexible with her exercise, despite following an advanced level personalised training schedule & getting stronger.
It’s not been plain sailing for Claire…
“Covid, work-stress, back pain… but Beth has helped me every step of the way, both mindset and exercise to keep me positive and working towards my long-term goals in a sustainable way. I’ve noticed I’ve become more toned, especially in my upper body. I also have had a few surprised other parents that I can pick up both kids, and throw them into the air which makes me realise I am actually strong! I’ve gone from an all-or-nothing approach to a much more measured, holistic and long-term view of health and fitness.
Beth is not just a strength coach, she has helped me with my mindset, nutrition and overall outlook on life.
I would 100% recommend Beth. I know I’m fortunate enough to be able to make the investment in myself that the monthly cost of a coach is, but I would scrimp and save elsewhere in my life to maintain the investment. Beth is such an anchoring point in my life. She is supportive, empathetic but straight-talking which has helped me learn so much about myself, without beating myself up. My training is focused and set up to support my lifestyle and goals, with the understanding and flexibility that real life requires”.
